Information on AMO SR / International Co-operation / ECN - European Competition Network

ECN - European Competition Network

A new operation system was established through the ECN network (European Competition Network) at the end of 2002. A system of coordination of competition policy within the European Community and a system of parallel competences of the European Commission and national competition institutions of EU Member States in the application of Articles 81 (agreements restricting competition) and 82 (abuse of a dominant position) of the Treaty were established in accordance with the relevant Council Regulation. The Office became an integral part of this forum, whose task and goal is to create a specific basis for developing and maintaining common competition culture in Europe.

Within the ECN, groups of experts in specific sectors (banking, securities, energy, insurance, food, pharmaceuticals, professional services, healthcare, environment, motor vehicles, telecommunications, media, IT & information & communication, abuse of dominant positions and railways) discuss competition problems and promote a common approach. In this way, the ECN allows competition authorities to pool their experience and identify best practices.
