On 20 August 2014 the Slovak Government appointed Kajetán Kičura a new member of the Council of the Antimonopoly Office. Kajetán Kičura will become a member of the Council from 1 September 2014 on for a period of five years.

Council of the Office is the second instance decision making body, which decides on the lodged appeals. Council reviews the procedure of the first-instance body, deals with objections and complete evidence if necessary. Council may uphold, change, annul the first-instance decision and return the matter to the first-instance body for further proceedings or terminate the proceedings for procedural reasons.

Since 1 July 2014 the Council consists of the Council Chairperson – Chairman of the Office and six of the Council members. Appointment of a new member of the Council follows the amendment to the Act on Protection of Competition, which inter alia regulates also the activities of the Office. The Vice-Chairman will no longer be a member of the Council since he will be responsible for the first-instance proceedings.
