MERGERS: AMU SR initiated administrative proceedings in the matter of the merger of undertakings SIGNA Holding GmbH and KIKA/Leiner Group

On 4 July 2018 the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic, the Division of Concentrations (hereafter "the Office") initiated the administrative proceedings in the matter of a merger, which, according to the merger notification, is grounded in the acquisition of sole control of the undertaking SIGNA Holding GmbH, Innsbruck, the Republic of Austria over 12 companies out of KIKA/Leiner Group, including Slovak company Sigma Properties Slovakia, s.r.o., seated at Galvaniho 11, 821 04 Bratislava and over their subsidiary companies, including Slovak companies Kika Nábytok Slovensko, s.r.o., seated at Galvaniho 11, 821 04 Bratislava and IMV kika Slovensko, s.r.o., in liquidation, seated at Galvaniho 11, 821 04 Bratislava.

The companies acquired operate retail stores of furniture in Austria and in some Eastern European countries, including Slovakia and run restaurants in the retails of companies KIKA and Leiner.

Third parties, namely natural and legal persons may submit their comments, objections and information on notified mergers to the Office. We request the third parties to submit their comments to the Office as soon as possible following the publishing of notification what may allow the Office to deal with these comments in the first phase of assessment of notified merger with respecting the legal periods.
