MERGERS: AMO SR initiated an administrative proceedings in the matter of a merger of companies ČEZ ESCO, a.s., and Slovenský plynárenský priemysel, a. s.

On 10 November 2020 the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic, the Division of Concentrations, (hereafter "the Office”) initiated an administrative proceedings in the matter of a merger, which, according to the merger notification, is grounded in the creation of a full-function joint venture by the company ČEZ ESCO, a.s., Prague, which is a member of the group ČEZ, and the company Slovenský plynárenský priemysel, a. s., Bratislava.
 
The joint venture will focus on providing specialized services to optimize energy consumption and it will be active also in the area of heat supply in Slovakia. In the framework of the transaction, the main activities of the companies ČEZ ESCO, a.s., and Slovenský plynárenský priemysel, a.s., in the area of ​​retail supplies of natural gas and electricity will not be invested in the joint venture.

Third parties, namely natural and legal persons may submit their comments, objections and information on notified mergers to the Office. We request the third parties to submit their comments to the Office as soon as possible following the publishing of notification what may allow the Office to deal with these comments in the first phase of assessment of notified merger with respecting the legal periods.
