The Antimonopoly Office of SR organised the press conference

On 17 June 2014 the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic organised in its premises a press conference focused on the Office´s news.

Media representatives were informed on three main topics:
  • „Whistleblower program“ – financial reward for providing evidence on cartel: Amendment to the Act No. 136/2001 Coll. on Protection of Competition effective from 1 July 2014 introduces the financial reward for natural persons for providing evidence on cartel. Natural person (informant) which is the first to provide the Office with evidence on cartel and this evidence will be substantial for the Office´s decision may receive the financial reward in the amount of 1% of the imposed fine for cartel (maximum of 100 000 EUR).
  • Cartel of IT distributors: AMO SR imposed a fine in the total amount of 4,28 mil. EUR on five distributors of IT technologies for the agreement on introduction of handling fee in the amount of 1 EUR. It is so-called hard-core cartel aimed at restriction of competition. Initiation of the administrative proceeding was preceded by the unannounced inspection, during which the Office acquired the decisive evidence.
  • Inspection in the food sector: AMO SR carried out an inspection in business premises of several entities acting in the area of supply and retail sales of milk and selected dairy products based on suspicion that possible vertical and/or horizontal agreements were concluded.
